Meet the Farmer

Aspen Bey - (they/them/theirs)

A (trans)plant to the Northeast, Aspen grew up in a rural town in the northern California foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains on a ranch with multiple families. There they learned to care for chickens and grow veggies, berries, flowers and work in the orchard. It was there that their passion for collective living, community care, and growing food and flowers grew. During the summer of 2017, they worked on two farms near their hometown in CA. They are a Hampshire college alum, who studied environmental racism, permaculture and food systems. When they aren’t farming, they are working to build community with other queer/trans farmers or plant lovers in the area, working as a personal care assistant, or swimming at one of their favorite local swimming holes. They are excited to be coming back home to farming as a way of healing and grounding themself in the current moment as a trauma survivor. They are a lover of all things that glitter and grow!
